Trivia Eric Eisenberg reported on Cinemablend that during the Los Angeles press day for Long Shot, the movie's director, Jonathan Levine, and its stars, Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen, all related that after Andy Serkis accepted the role of Parker Wembley, he then developed an extensive prosthetic makeup design for the character--a makeup regimen that required hours a day to execute--even though nobody asked him to do that.
Rogen remembered, "we offered him the role, and then he was like, 'Okay. And we were like, 'What do you mean? I thought he kind of looked a lot like Andy Serkis. Though her age isn't directly stated, it is implied she is 41, as Fred states she was 16 when she babysat him 25 years prior. Really nice romantic comedy carried mostly by good cast and clever writing. The balance between romance and comedy works and leans slightly towards the latter having enough funny jokes to hold the movie.
The writing is witty and somewhat original. Not everywhere, but for the majority it feels so. It's not that all jokes land well, but there are enough that do, which kept me entertained through the whole movie. And while non of them made me grab my belly, they were certainly funny. Somehow, the writers also managed to avoid the obvious territories, such as sex and toilet jokes. The cast makes the movie work. Charlize Theron is exceptional. She just gets better and better with every role she plays.

Rogen and Theron give solid performances and have chemistry together. However, the humor is pretty raunchy and crude as Rogen films tend to be , and the left wing politics are as heavy handed as all get-out.
Yet some of the jokes work, and there's a positive message about overcoming one's pride and not letting the opinions of others control you.
Long Shot has its moments and delivers a few laughs, but the raunch and the politics get in the way and drag it down a bit. Dann M Super Reviewer. I guess. It's a very half measures movie, is what I'm saying. Moves towards one set of things but can't leave the other set behind.
